HONOR THE KING (I PETER 2:17)
Indeed, the secular state is ordained of God and is accountable
to God to be a terror to evil (Romans 13:1-7). We, as Christians
are to be subject to the political powers:
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For
there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained
of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the
ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves
damnation" (Romans 13:1 & 2).
Jesus said, "Render therefore unto Caesar the things
which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's"
(Matthew 22:21).
The Christian has a dual-citizenship. (Our English family of
"citizen" words derives from the Greek polis="city",
from which derive also "polite, polish, politic, etc.".
This Greek word is used also of the abode and community of the
redeemed, "the city (polis) of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem," (Hebrews 12:22). The Christian
has a temporal earthly citizenship, and therefore may say with
Paul, "I am ... a citizen (polites) of no mean
city (polis)" [Acts 21:39]. The Christian has also
an eternal heavenly citizenship, and therefore again says with
Paul, "For our conversation (politeuma; citizenship)
is in heaven" (Philippians 3:20).
If our political governments command us to do that which is contrary
to God's Word; then, and only then, should we disobey Caesar
and obey God. When Christ's apostles were commanded not to preach
Jesus, Peter and the other apostles correctly replied, "We
ought to obey God rather than men" (Acts 5:28 &
29).
SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE
The Church, which is the body of Jesus Christ, is also ordained
of God. The Church is a Spiritual entity within the secular
governments of the world. The Church is to be separated from
the world. Well said is the old saying, 'We are in the world,
but not of the world.' The apostle Paul wrote:
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?
and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord
hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth
with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with
idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath
said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their
God, and they shall be my people.
WHEREFORE COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM, AND BE YE SEPARATE, saith
the Lord" (II Corinthians 6:14-17).
Just as a Christian is forbidden to marry an unbeliever, we
also are not to be yoked together with unbelievers in the world's
religions, political parties, labor unions, etc., etc.
PRESIDENT BUSH'S "CHRISTIANITY" VS. NEW TESTAMENT
CHRISTIANITY
Many "Christians" believe President Bush is a Godly
Christian. However, contrary to New Testament doctrine, "Christian"
President Bush tries to kill his enemies with bombs and bullets.
Jesus said, "Love your enemies, bless them that curse
you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully
use you, and persecute you" (Matt. 5:44). Paul wrote,
"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after
the flesh: (For THE WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE ARE NOT
CARNAL...." (II Cor. 10:3 & 4).
WE DO NOT WAR AFTER THE FLESH! THE WEAPONS
OF OUR WARFARE ARE NOT CARNAL! Also Paul wrote, "Dearly
beloved, AVENGE NOT YOURSELVES, but rather give place unto wrath:
for it is written, VENGEANCE IS MINE; I WILL REPAY, saith the
LORD" (Romans 12:19). "WE WRESTLE NOT AGAINST
FLESH AND BLOOD" (Eph. 6:12).
SHOULD CHRISTIANS KILL ONE ANOTHER IN THE WORLD'S OPPOSING
ARMIES?
IN W.W. II, SHOULD CHRISTIANS HAVE SERVED IN HITLER'S MILITARY?
OR STALIN'S? OR AMERICA'S? NO, NO, NO!!
SOLDIERS OF THE CROSS
We, as Christians, are ONLY to be soldiers of our Lord Jesus
Christ: "Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
with the cross of Jesus going on before."
"No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs
of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be
a soldier" (II Timothy 2:3 & 4).
Who, may I ask, is more entangled with the affairs of this
life than the president of the U.S.A.? Christians should not
be involved in the world's politics, nor in the world's wars!
We are told to PRAY for our secular political leaders
that we may live peaceful lives (I Timothy 2:1 & 2). We
are to PRAY for them, not campaign for them, nor vote
for them. Above all, we are not to kill for them with carnal
weapons (bombs and bullets) in the name of Jesus Christ; which
is exactly what we would be doing as Christians. President Bush's
profession of faith in Jesus Christ is widely known throughout
all Christendom, but he is very careful since his election, not
to mention the name of Jesus publicly. As president of the United
States he is commander-in-chief of the most powerful military
in the history of the world.
THE WORLD'S GOVERNMENTS ARE TO BE LEFT TO THE
PEOPLE OF THE WORLD
If President Bush were not a professing Christian, there would
be no problem with his political involvement and his war on terror
with carnal weapons. But,
due to his profession of faith in Jesus Christ, he is therefore
killing people on behalf of Jesus Christ, which is forbidden
by Jesus Christ! The Christian's only weapon is the Word of
God: "And take the helmet of salvation, and THE SWORD
OF THE SPIRIT, WHICH IS THE WORD OF GOD" (Eph. 6:17).
However, if one is already in the military when he is called
to salvation, he should remain until his enlistment is finished.
See Acts chapter 10; Matthew 8:5-10 and Luke 3:14. Jesus told
the soldiers in Luke 3:14, "Do violence to no man."
Satan has much of Christendom in the U.S. believing the U.S.
is some kind of theocracy, or client-nation of God. It is neither!
Satan is the god of this world (II Cor. 4:4) and all the kingdoms
of this world are his domain, including the United States. When
Satan offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world (Matt. 4:8
& 9); that was a legitimate offer, as all the kingdoms of
the world are his.
Nevertheless, now in my seventieth year, I am truly grateful
that I was born in, and have lived in the U.S. all my life.
I do pray for our secular leaders; military and law enforcement
officers, from the White house, to the state, city and county,
that we Christians may live peacefully. Also, in obedience to
the Word of God, I do not campaign, nor vote for them. This
world is not our home! We are also ambassadors for Christ in
these foreign countries (II Cor. 5:20). An ambassador does
not involve himself in the internal affairs of the country to
which he is an ambassador. The Bible says:
"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the
world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is
not in him" (I John 2:15).
President Bush, a member of the apostate United Methodists, has
often publicly stated, "Islam is a peaceful and caring
great religion" and "The Christian God and the god
of Islam is the same god." Those are blasphemous lies.
Jesus referred to King Herod as "that fox" (Luke
13:32). Also Jesus said, "Take heed, beware of the leaven
of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod" (Mark
8:15).
Please,
dear reader,
BEWARE OF THE LEAVEN OF THAT FOX,
BUSH!
"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing
of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ" (Titus
2:13).
